Vermilion County War Museum, 307 N. Vermilion St., features exhibits detailing military history from the Revolutionary War to current conflicts. Newspapers, medals, flags, guns, swords, bayonets and uniforms can be seen on the main floor of the museum; a library of war-related books, periodicals and veterans' personal journals is available on the lower level. Highlights include an American Military Cemeteries and Memorials display, exhibits dedicated to Merchant Marine sailors and the World War II D-Day invasion, trench art created by World War II soldiers and a monument to female veterans.
Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted.
