Peck Farm Park is at 4038 Kaneville Rd. The 385-acre park includes trails for hiking and biking, gardens, a 19-acre lake, baseball and soccer fields and a butterfly house open in summer. Also on the grounds, the 1869 Peck House features a welcome center, a discovery room and a history gallery with a 10-minute movie and interactive exhibits about the history of the Peck family, and a silo has been converted into an observation tower with windows and display areas on three levels. Hawks Hollow features a nature playground with interactive learning stations. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
Farm free. Butterfly house by donation.
Hours: Farm (includes Peck House, welcome center and observation silo) open Mon.-Sat. 9-5, Sun. noon-5, May-Oct.; Mon.-Fri. 9-5, Sat. 10-5, rest of year. Butterfly house open Mon.-Sat. 9-5, Sun. noon-5, Memorial Day weekend to mid-Sept. (weather permitting). Grounds and trails open daily 6 a.m.-10 p.m. Hawks Hollow daily dawn-dusk. Buildings closed major holidays.
