Wildlife Prairie Park is off I-74 exit 82, 4 mi. s. on N. Kickapoo Edwards Rd. (N. Taylor Rd.), following signs to entrance. The park is dedicated to the preservation of Illinois animal and prairie life. On the grounds are more than 150 animals and 50 different species, including bison, elk, wolves, cougars, bears, bobcats, waterfowl, bald eagles and other animals native to Illinois.
The park also has a museum, a one-room schoolhouse, a narrow-gauge railroad, a pioneer farmstead and a visitor center. Recreational activities include hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, fishing, Frisbee golf and a Wildside sledding hill; visitors also can take a seasonal train ride or narrated Adventure Trek tour through a bison and elk pasture. Events are held throughout the year.
