Lewis & Clark Confluence Tower is at 435 Confluence Tower Dr. Built to commemorate the bicentennial of the Lewis & Clark Expedition, this observation tower has three levels—at 50 feet, 100 feet and 150 feet—from which to view the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. Downtown St. Louis, Mo., is 19 miles to the south and can be seen from the highest level. A visitor center has interactive exhibits and videos, and landscaped grounds include plants indigenous to the expedition. Note: The tower is accessible only during guided tours. Visitors must be accompanied by a tour guide. Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
Visitor center free. Guided tour $4; $3 (ages 62+ and active and retired military with ID); $2 (ages 3-12).
Hours: Tours are given Mon.-Sat. 9:30-5, Sun. noon-5, Memorial Day-Labor Day (weather permitting); Wed.-Sat. 9:30-5, Sun. noon-5, early Apr.-day before Memorial Day and day after Labor Day-late Nov.; Sat. 9:30-5, Sun. noon-5, rest of year. Last tour begins 30 minutes before closing. Closed Jan. 1, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas and Dec. 31. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
