Jurica-Suchy Nature Museum is on the second floor of the Michael and Kay Birck Hall of Science at Benedictine University, 5700 College Rd. The museum contains a collection of more than 10,000 natural history items. Many are displayed in northern Illinois, the Sonoran Desert and the African savanna dioramas featuring birds, mammals, reptiles, fish, insects and plants. A 38-foot-long rorqual whale skeleton hanging from the ceiling dominates the room. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.

Hours: Mon.-Thurs. 1-5, Fri.-Sun. 2-4, Sept.-May; Tues.-Thurs. 1-4, June-July; by appointment rest of year. Closed national holidays, spring break mid-Mar. and mid-Dec. to mid-Jan.
