Morton Arboretum is on 1,700 acres about .25 mi. n. of I-88 SR 53 exit. More than 4,300 types of trees, shrubs and other plants are displayed in woodlands, wetlands, gardens and a restored native prairie. Crab apples, lilacs and daffodils bloom in spring, while prairie flowers abound July through September. The fall foliage color display is outstanding October through November. Guided 1-hour tours in open-air trams are available seasonally (weather permitting).

Trees and shrubs are labeled for identification along the 16 miles of trails and 9 miles of roadways; further information is available at the visitor center. The 1-acre Maze Garden challenges visitors to find their way through seven outdoor rooms formed by hedges. Designed for kids ages 2-10, the Children’s Garden offers 4 acres of trees, play areas and water features; young visitors can wade in a pond, slide down giant tree roots or play games that teach them how to identify different types of trees.

Pets are not permitted. Special events are offered throughout the year.
