Black Hawk State Historic Site is off SR 5 at 1510 46th Ave. (Blackhawk Rd.). The 207-acre site was named for the warrior who led the Sac and Fox Indians in the Black Hawk War. John Hauberg Museum of Native American Life on Watch Tower Hill displays Native American relics, including a wickiup, or hut. The park has four miles of hiking trails. Picnicking is permitted.
Hours: Grounds daily dawn-10 p.m. Museum Wed.-Sun. 9-noon and 1-5, Mar.-Oct.; 9-noon and 1-4, rest of year. Closed major holidays. Phone ahead to confirm schedule and holiday hours.
