Illinois State Military Museum, 1301 N. MacArthur Blvd., chronicles the actions of Illinois' militia, National Guard soldiers and volunteers with a collection of weapons, flags, uniforms and personal effects. The museum is housed in a historic stone building on the Illinois National Guard campus; on display outside are cannons, helicopters, tanks and a World War I military trench. A military reenactment and three military encampment displays take place each year. The military vehicle show takes place in mid-May, and Christmas at the Front is held in mid-December.
