AAA Editor Notes
Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices State Historic Site, in the 1840 Tinsley Building at 209 S. 6th at Adams St., is said to be the only surviving structure in which Abraham Lincoln maintained working law offices. Built by merchant Seth M. Tinsley, it once had a ground floor as a general store, with vacant space rented to lawyers and the federal government. Lincoln practiced law in offices on the third floor 1843-52.
