AAA Editor Notes
Cosley Zoo, 1356 N. Gary Ave. at Jewell Rd., is a 5-acre zoo with more than 125 domestic and wild animals representing more than 50 species. Discovery Station presentations include animal encounters and training sessions. Self-guiding backpack tours provide activities to learn about animal and habitat conservation. A train station and railroad caboose also are on site.

A behind-the-scenes tour, Bobcats Backstage, is available by reservation. Food is available Apr.-Oct.

Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Food is available.

$7; $6 (ages 55+); free (ages 0-17). Behind-the-scenes tour $12. Backpack tours $3 per pack. Duck or chicken feeding $1.

Daily 9-9, in Dec.; 9-5, Apr.-Oct.; 9-4, rest of year. Behind-the-scenes tour daily at 11. Discovery Station daily at 10:30 and 2:30, June-Aug.; Sat.-Sun. at 10:30 and 2:30, Apr.-May. Duck feeding daily at 10 and 3, chicken feeding daily at 11:30 and 1:30, mid-Apr. to mid-Oct. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve (noon-9), Christmas and Dec. 31 (noon-9). Allow 1 hour minimum.
