First Division Museum, s.e. of Cantigny Park's entrance at 1 S. 151 Winfield Rd., honors the U.S. Army's First Infantry Division, also known as the Big Red One, with units dating from 1776 as well as the men and women who have served in World War I, World War II, Vietnam and Desert Storm through present operations. Designed to allow visitors to experience what it was like to walk through war-torn France or land on Omaha Beach on D-Day, the museum also contains archives and an outdoor tank park.
Free. Parking: Cantigny Park $2-$5.
Hours: Tues.-Sun. 10-5, May-Oct.; Tues.-Sun. 10-4, Mar.-Apr. and Nov.-Dec.; Fri.-Sun. 10-4, in Feb. Closed Thanksgiving, day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas and Dec. 31. Holiday hours vary; phone ahead. Last admission 1 hour before closing.
