Robert R. McCormick Museum, n.e. of Cantigny Park's entrance at 1 S. 151 Winfield Rd., is the restored Georgian residence of Colonel McCormick and his grandfather, Joseph Medill. The museum contains antique furnishings, carpets and paintings; sword and miniature cannon collections; and an Art Deco bar and theater. An introductory film is included in the guided tour. A self-guiding exterior tour also is offered. Guided tours are available.
Museum free. Parking: Cantigny Park $5-$10; free (first Wed. of the month).
Hours: Tues.-Sun. 10-5, May-Oct.; Tues.-Sun. 10-4, Mar.-Apr. and Nov.-Dec.; Fri.-Sun. 10-4, in Feb. Closed Thanksgiving, day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas and Dec. 31. Holiday hours vary; phone ahead. Last admission 1 hour before closing.
