Falls of the Ohio State Park is off I-65 exit 0 to 201 W. Riverside Dr. on the Ohio River, following signs. The park provides access to one of the largest exposed formations from the Devonian Era. A 390-million-year-old fossil bed contains more than 500 species of coral and prehistoric ocean life.

An interpretive center features interactive exhibits, a movie on the Lewis and Clark connection and an observation deck 40 feet above the river. Some of the best views of the 220-acre fossil bed come from below the interpretive center. The George Rogers Clark home site, on a bluff at the bottom of the falls, contains a re-created log cabin similar to the one Clark occupied 1803-09.

Note: Erratic river levels do not always allow viewing of the fossil beds; accessibility to the beds is best from July to mid-November. Removing rocks and fossils is prohibited, except in the designated piles next to the main parking lot.

Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
