Mid-America Windmill Museum

Mid-America Windmill Museum is at 732 S. Allen Chapel Rd. A collection of more than 50 restored working windmills and related artifacts demonstrates how harnessed wind power contributed to the settlement of the Great Plains. Especially noteworthy is a replica of the Robertson Post Windmill, the first windmill built in America. Also on site is an 1880s wooden barn constructed without nails. A 10-minute video presentation explains the history of wind power development.
