Historic Prophetstown is off I-65 exit 178, just w. on SR 43, .7 mi. s. on Burnett Rd., then 1.6 mi. s. on Swisher Rd. to 3549 Prophetstown Tr. in Prophetstown State Park. This 300-acre site represents a farmstead in the 1920s. Featured are the Kampen Family Prairie and Natural Habitat, a re-created tallgrass prairie; a 125-acre working farm with a barn, a Model T garage and the Gibson Farmhouse, a replica of a Sears catalog house that contains period fixtures and appliances; and the Woodland Native American Village, which includes a council house and medicine lodge. Visitors are invited to help work in the garden, collect eggs and feed the animals. Special weekend events take place throughout the season. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
Included in park admission of $10 (per private out-of-state vehicle); $8 (per private in-state vehicle).
Hours: Daily 8-5, Apr. 1-late Nov. Barn chores daily at 8 and 3.
