Historic Prophetstown is off I-65 exit 178, just w. on SR 43, .7 mi. s. on Burnett Rd., then 1.6 mi. s. on Swisher Rd. to 3549 Prophetstown Tr. in Prophetstown State Park. This 300-acre site represents a farmstead in the 1920s. Featured are the Kampen Family Prairie and Natural Habitat, a re-created tallgrass prairie; a 125-acre working farm with a barn, a Model T garage and the Gibson Farmhouse, a replica of a Sears catalog house that contains period fixtures and appliances; and the Woodland Native American Village, which includes a council house and medicine lodge. Visitors are invited to help work in the garden, collect eggs and feed the animals. Special weekend events take place throughout the season.
Included in park admission of $10 (per private out-of-state vehicle); $8 (per private in-state vehicle).
Hours: Daily 8-5, Apr. 1-late Nov. Barn chores daily at 8 and 3. Allow 2 hours minimum.
