Pros: I was impressed by the front desk clerk. The minute she said hello, I felt comfortable and welcomed. She was friendly and cheerful, but not is a forced, saccharine way. She was sensitive to my safety in that she was careful in the way she quietly shared the directions to my hotel room. And she told me how late she would be on duty. That may seem a small thing, but it's nice to know that there will be a somewhat familiar voice on the other end of the phone should I need anything from the front desk before midnight.
I was pleased with the room; especially with the reasonably sized desk - I could actually spread out my files and use my laptop without balancing something on my lap!
The love-seat was comfortable, and the small table provided was ideal for eating a late dinner, making it unnecessary for me to move my work off the desk.
Cons: I was caught by surprise when the coffee maker, after taking some time to complete the brewing cycle, stopped chugging and burbling, grew still ... and then with a sudden puff of steam, a fury of gurgles and two final mini-explosions gasped twice before quietly dripping water onto the conveniently placed tray beneath the pot itself.
For all of that drama, I ended up with multiple cups of fairly good coffee - I think this is just the nature of the solo coffee makers, since I've seen this behavior at other hotels. I stayed out of its line of fire, but I wonder about people who aren't as familiar with these caffeine dragons.
That was exciting, but the other glitch was relaxing in an unfortunate way.
The buttons to set the alarm clock would not work. The alarm was fixed at 4:45am, and try as I might, I could not advance or reverse the numbers. This is a standard hotel clock, so the steps necessary are not complicated - it seemed as if the buttons were just stuck, sticky? grimy? This isn't to say that the room was dirty - it was not - but I wonder if the alarm clock was just well used by thousands of business people who, like me, sleep best knowing that there is a back-up to their mobile phone's alarm - just in case.
