Fair Oaks Farms is off I-65 exit 220 (Winamac), then w. on SR 14 to 856 N. 600E. One of the nation’s largest dairy farms, the 30,000-acre complex is home to 36,500 cows and 27,000 pigs. The Dairy Adventure includes a visitor center with interactive exhibits, movies, animatronics and a birthing center.
Buses transport visitors on guided 45-minute tours to various parts of this modern farm, which includes a cheese factory, calf barns and a 24-hour rotary turntable where 72 cows are milked simultaneously.
The Pig Adventure offers an in-depth look at today’s pig farming practices. Visitors are shuttled to a 120,000-square-foot pig production facility in which they can perform sonograms on pregnant sows and witness the birth of piglets. The WinField Crop Adventure offers a 5-room museum, an IMAX movie and an underground play area.
