The Levi Coffin House State Historic Site is 6 mi. n. of I-70 exit 151 on US 27. This Federal-style house was known as the Grand Central Station of the Underground Railroad. During their 20 years in residence Levi and Catharine Coffin opened their home to more than 2,000 fleeing slaves, none of whom was ever captured en route to Canada. The 1839 house contains furnishings typical of the area in the early 19th century.
