Indianapolis Zoo is at 1200 W. Washington St. in White River State Park . The 64-acre cageless zoo exhibits exotic animals within five different living habitats. African lions, elephants, giraffes, rhinos and zebras roam the Plains Biome. Brown bears, Amur tigers, gibbons and ring-tailed lemurs are among the residents of the Forests Biome. The Deserts Biome is home to lizards, meerkats and snakes.

The Oceans Biome features an aquarium, penguin and polar bear exhibits and one of the world's largest dolphin pavilions, where visitors can view bottle-nosed dolphins from a fully submerged dome. Visitors can touch and interact with exotic birds in the Flights of Fancy: A Brilliance of Birds exhibit at the Encounters Biome. The Simon Skjodt International Orangutan Center features a network of cables designed to allow orangutans to travel at tree-level to other areas of the zoo. A behind-the-scenes train tour, a family roller coaster and a carousel are other zoo highlights.
