Kankakee State Fish and Wildlife Area is n. on SR 39, then 2.5 mi. w. to 4320 W. Toto Rd. The area lies along both sides of an 11-mile stretch of the Kankakee River and contains 4,095 acres in what was once the Kankakee Grand Marsh, Indiana's finest hunting and fishing district. Popular activities include fishing, bird-watching, canoeing, boating, and berry and mushroom picking. Picnicking is permitted.
