National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library is downtown at 1400 Inspiration Pl. S.W. The museum in Czech Village displays videos and interactive environments; reader boards and oral histories; and authentic Czech and Slovak folk costumes, glass and ceramics, maps, folk art, military artifacts and other items of Czech, Moravian and Slovak origin. The Faces of Freedom: The Czech and Slovak Journey exhibit describes Czech and Slovak heritage and the road to freedom and discovery. A restored house reflects the lifestyle of Czech and Slovak immigrants.
Demonstrations of traditional Old World arts and crafts are offered throughout the year. Rotating exhibits and events also are available. A display about the damaging effects of floods on the community can be seen at the museum's Kosek Building, 87 16th Ave. S.W.
