AAA Editor Notes
Mathias Ham Historic Site is at 2241 Lincoln Ave. next to the entrance to Eagle Point Park. The 23-room limestone Italianate villa, built in 1856, has been restored and furnished to reflect the splendor and lives of the Ham family in antebellum Dubuque. Also at the site is an 1833 settler's log cabin that is said to be Iowa's oldest standing building, as well as a one-room schoolhouse, a re-created lead mine and a lead miner's dwelling or “badger hole.”

Interpreters in period dress offer tours.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
