Backbone State Park is off CR W69 at 1347 129th St. The 2,000-acre park contains springs, caverns, a man-made lake and limestone bluffs rising 80 to 90 feet above the Maquoketa River. The park derives its name from the high ridge of rock in the center of the park. Pets on leash are allowed. Recreational activities are permitted. Camping is permitted. Picnicking is permitted.
