Fort Museum and Frontier Village is .5 mi. e. of jct. US 20 Bus. Rte. and US 169. This replica of an 1862 militia fort houses two original cabins within a stockade. Collections of military, pioneer and Native American artifacts are displayed. Front Street has a drugstore, jail, log chapel, general store, newspaper office, blacksmith shop, log house, cabinet shop, livery stable, schoolhouse and Fort Dodge stoneware building, all furnished in period. A land office displays Fort Dodge memorabilia. Guided tours are available.
$7; $5 (college students and active military and veterans with ID); $3 (ages 5-17). Reservations are required 2 weeks in advance for guided tours.
