Buffalo Bill Museum and River Pilots' Pier is at 199 N. Front St. at the foot of Jones St. Exhibits about steamboats, local history, river rapids pilots and native son William Cody are featured. Also on display is a flight recorder developed by James J. Ryan II. Within the museum is the Lone Star, an 1869 steam-powered towboat said to be the last wooden-hulled working boat on the upper Mississippi River. Hands-on exhibits are available for children ages 3-8. The archival research room displays historic photos, documents and letters.
