Frank Lloyd Wright Stockman House is 4 blks. e. of US 65 (Delaware Ave.) at 530 1st St. N.E. Designed by architectural master Frank Lloyd Wright, the house was built in 1908 for Dr. George C. Stockman and is the only Wright-designed Prairie School home in Iowa that is open to the public. In 1989 it was moved to the present site, restored and furnished with Arts and Crafts style originals and period Frank Lloyd Wright reproductions. Tours begin at the adjacent Architectural Interpretative Center, which features an introductory video and exhibits about Wright's architecture and local Prairie School architecture. Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
$10; $5 (ages 6-17). Tours are not recommended for young children. Fee for advance reservation tour $60 minimum for 5 people or fewer. Architectural Interpretive Center free.
Hours: Regularly scheduled tours are available May through Oct.; by appointment with at least 3 days advance reservation, rest of year. Phone ahead to confirm tour schedule.
