Frank Lloyd Wright Stockman House is 4 blks. e. of US 65 (Delaware Ave.) at 530 1st St. N.E. Designed by architectural master Frank Lloyd Wright, the house was built in 1908 for Dr. George C. Stockman and is the only Wright-designed Prairie School home in Iowa. In 1989 it was moved to the present site, restored and furnished with Arts and Crafts style originals and period reproductions. Tours begin at the adjacent Architectural Interpretative Center, which features a video and exhibits about Wright's architecture and other Prairie School architecture. Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
$10; $5 (ages 12-17); $2 (ages 6-11). Tours are not recommended for young children. Fee for advance reservation tour $60 minimum. Architectural Interpretive Center free.
Hours: Tours depart on the hour Thurs.-Sat. 10-11 and 1-3, Sun. 1-3, mid-May through Sept. 30; Sat. 10-11 and 1-3, Sun. 1-3, in Oct.; otherwise by appointment with 3 days advance reservation.
