AAA Editor Notes
DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge is 7 mi. w. on US 30. More than 8,300 acres of the Missouri River floodplain are divided between Iowa and Nebraska. The floodplain provides habitat for migratory waterfowl that descend upon DeSoto Lake and the refuge's wetlands in fall. Bald eagles often perch in the cottonwood trees along the lake. Nearby woodlands shelter white-tailed deer, turkeys and songbirds.

Recreational activities are permitted. Picnicking is permitted.
