Living History Farms is off I-35 exit 125, then .2 mi. e. to 11121 Hickman Rd. (US 6). This 500-acre open-air agricultural museum tells the story of farming in the Midwest and helps to preserve pioneer farming skills. Featured are a 1700 Ioway farm, an 1850 working pioneer farm, an 1875 frontier town called Walnut Hill, a 1900 horse-powered farm and an agricultural exhibit center.

Walnut Hill has the historic Flynn mansion, a general store, schoolhouse, doctor's office, drugstore and implement warehouse as well as millinery, blacksmith and carpentry shops. Traveling exhibits also are offered. Weekend events and demonstrations are scheduled.

Historic interpreters are available to answer questions.

Food is available. Time: Allow 3 hours minimum.
