Shrine of the Grotto of the Redemption is 3 blks. w. of SR 15 at 208 1st Ave. N.W. Construction of the shrine began in 1912. Covering nearly a city block, it contains nine hand-carved Carrara marble grottoes, each portraying a scene in the life of Jesus Christ. The grotto, which represents a vast collection of minerals and precious and semi-precious stones, is valued at more than $5 million. Artifacts, photographs and tools also are on display.
Guided tours are available. Camping is permitted. Food is available.
