AAA Inspector Notes
From the road this hotel looks like an Italian palace painted brilliantly white with grand columns and a striking edifice. Overflowing with many forms of art, including sculptures and paintings, the property seems more like an art gallery than hotel. The elevated pool with striking vistas is in the shape of the island of Jamaica. Smoke free premises. 40 units. 2 stories (no elevator), exterior corridors.

Pros: Jamaica Palace is a reflection of a time that is almost lost - old fashion charm and values. Excellent service, once a family run resort with some of the original staff still present. It seems to have been a thriving hotel 30 years ago but is now much quieter. An excellent base to visit Blue Lagoon and Boston, if you want the best Jerk on the island.
Cons: Portland was once a thriving destination, but since the cruise ships moved to Oche Rios the area has become very quiet. The rooms looked special and were very comfortable, but lacked some modern expectations like a fridge, hairdryer, kettle.

Pros: Good food in the on site restaurant. The pool was clean and the grounds well maintained.
Cons: Kinda far from town and the beach. The road leading to the hotel is terrible, needs pot holes filled. Nice back bar and outdoor patio space thats abandoned. Dated TV in room.

Pros: The coziness and beauty
Cons: I did not like the lack of proper TV channels. The variety and transmission was poor. I am a TV person.

Pros: Impressive building, well maintained with a great view, beautiful garden and pool, clean and spacious rooms, friendly front desk staff
Cons: Parrots locked in cages at the terrace were a sad view. Hotel restaurant was a bit overpriced; the village nearby was a bit dodgy.
