Kaw Mission State Historic Site is at 500 N. Mission St., 5 blks. n. of US 56. Now a museum displaying mission period artifacts, the two-story stone building was erected in 1851 as a school for Kaw Indian children. Exhibits depict the history of the Kaw and the Santa Fe Trail. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.

Hours: Wed.-Sat. 10-5, May-Oct. Closed major holidays.
