Butler County History Center and Kansas Oil Museum

Butler County History Center and Kansas Oil Museum, 383 E. Central Ave., chronicles the development of the county and the oil industry in Kansas since 1860. An orientation film about the history of oil is shown. The Glory of the Hills exhibit highlights tallgrass prairie farming and ranching. Outdoor exhibits include farm equipment, several Model-T trucks, an oil derrick, oil field buildings and equipment, a 1930s oil boomtown, and a restored “shotgun” house.
