The Gordon Parks Museum/Center for Culture and Diversity, 2108 S. Horton on the campus of Fort Scott Community College, houses a collection of Parks' works, including his books, photographs, films, musical compositions and even a ballet. Parks chronicled the civil rights movement through photographs for Life Magazine and was the writer, producer and director of "The Learning Tree" and the director of the 1971 film "Shaft." The center hosts an annual photo competition to highlight social injustice, family values and other themes.
