Hollenberg Pony Express Station State Historic Site, 4 mi. n. on SR 148, then 1 mi. e. on SR 243 to 2889 23rd Rd., is the only unaltered Pony Express station remaining in its original location. G.H. Hollenberg built the long frame structure to accommodate his home and the businesses engendered by the traffic on the Oregon Trail.
A museum contains exhibits about the history of the Oregon/California Trail and the Pony Express. A visitor center gallery depicts the evolution of trail transportation methods.
