University of Kansas Natural History Museum is in Dyche Hall at 1345 Jayhawk Blvd., on the University of Kansas campus. The museum features native snakes and insects; a working beehive; fossils of animals from the Cretaceous period; and exhibits about microbes, parasites and global ecology. The museum also is home to mounted animals, including Comanche, a 7th Cavalry horse that survived the 1876 Battle of Little Bighorn.

Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
