AAA Editor Notes

Constitution Hall State Historic Site, 319 Elmore St., is the building in which the controversial Lecompton Constitution for the admittance of Kansas into the Union as a pro-slavery state was written. The document sparked a chain of events that divided the country and eventually climaxed in the Civil War. Displays deal with significant territorial Kansas political and historical events such as the slavery debate. Guided tours are available.
