AAA Editor Notes
Constitution Hall State Historic Site, 319 Elmore St., is the building in which the controversial Lecompton Constitution for the admittance of Kansas into the Union as a pro-slavery state was written. The document sparked a chain of events that divided the country and eventually climaxed in the Civil War. Displays deal with significant territorial Kansas political and historical events such as the slavery debate.
