Territorial Capitol-Lane Museum, 640 E. Woodson St., was begun in 1855 as the territorial capitol but work was suspended in 1857 when it seemed the capital would be elsewhere. Finally completed in 1882, the building housed Lane University until 1902. Displays include pioneer and Native American artifacts, Civil War items and an exhibit about President Dwight Eisenhower’s parents, who met and married while attending Lane University. More than 100 antique Christmas trees are on display Nov. 1-Jan. 1.
