Pros: Nice staff
Cons: How thin the window glass was, you could hear every sound outside.

The Holiday Inn Express in town is a lot nicer with better, cleaner rooms. These rooms at this hotel are setup weird where you can not have the bathroom door open when opening the entry door. This results in the bathroom being hot because the door basically has to be closed the entire time when coming and going.
Pros: Love that this hotel is walking distance to Braum's!
Cons: Room was not very clean and carpet felt tacky and sticky. Bathroom was not cleaned thoroughly. Most importantly, AC did not function properly and room was hot and musty. Beds uncomfortable and hard.

Stay at one of their...
Pros: Arriving at the Country Inn and Suites in Topeka a few hours after checking out.
Cons: I had paid to stay in a hotel, but arrived to find the hotel under renovation, with no advance notification. The lobby was closed off by tape, we were "checked in" outside the door, given no briefing about the hotel and facilities, several times I had to negotiate corridors with cables lying around while wheeling my luggage, on the first two afternoons I was disrupted by noise the workmen were making letting the alarm off on their truck outside my window or working on the renovations, the hotel desk did not pick up the phone when I called, on arrival the elevator was closed off, leaving an elderly gentlement with mobility issues stranded on the first floor, there were basic items missing at breakfast, e.g. no orange juice at 7.30 on the last morning, not enough seating at breakfast at busy times, often no staff to ask, the building had a cheap feel to it and I suspect it will fall down in a few years. The manager did not seem remotely concerned about the comfort of his guests and presumably treats guests in his family home as badly. He did not have business cards with his name on at the front desk (there were cards with the name of another person as manager) which I assume was because he was trying to avoid responsibity for performing his duties to the appropriate standard.
