I bring my family here for the large portions of fried chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans. Plus, kids love the gigantic, gooey cinnamon rolls.
AAA Inspector Notes
I always enjoy a restaurant with a history and this one is no exception. Helen Stroud began serving Southern fried chicken in 1933. Once a barn, this location is the only restaurant outside of Kansas City serving Stroud's recipes. The main attraction still is the pan-fried chicken—tender and juicy with a crispy crust and creamy gravy. Other highlights include steak, pork chops, salmon, catfish and burgers. Large bowls of gravy and green beans are served family style.
