Kentucky Coal Mining Museum, 231 Main St., has exhibits about the history of coal mining and the family life of the miners. Displays include information about the formation of coal, tools and equipment used in coal mining over the past century and a blacksmith shop. A collection of photographs documents the building of coal camps and mining operations, while a simulated coal mine offers a perspective on the history of mining. The Coal Miner’s Daughter exhibit has items belonging to country singer Loretta Lynn. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
