Lost River Cave, jct. US 31W (Nashville Rd.) and Dishman Ln. (Cave Mill Rd.), offers a 45-minute underground boat and walking tour of a cave discovered by Native Americans 10,000 years ago. The cave, which is a constant 56°F, was a shelter for Paleo-Indians, the site of a 19th-century water-powered mill, a campsite used by both sides during the Civil War, a hiding place for outlaw Jesse James and a popular 1930s night club. A butterfly habitat can be seen in summer. Lost River Cave has 2 miles of nature trails, along which visitors can see three blue holes, sites where the underground river rises to ground level. The Nature Explore outdoor classroom includes the Nature Art Studio, Fox Hole, Thistle Theater and Busy Bee Play Area.

Recreational activities are permitted. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
