The Historic Railpark and Train Museum at L & N Depot is at 401 Kentucky St. In its heyday, this 1925 depot saw more than 20 trains depart per day and to such destinations as Louisville, Ky. and Nashville, Tenn. Its museum's galleries offer such culturally and historically significant displays as Segregation & The North American Railroad as well as exhibits at which visitors may listen to passenger trains' sounds and interact with conductors and engineers. The L & N Theatre presents films and vintage news reels. Outside the museum are five restored railcars, including an E8a diesel engine, a 1911 Presidential Office Car used to transport high-ranking officials and a 1921 Railroad Post Office Car. Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
$12; $10 (ages 60+); $6 (ages 5-12).
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 9-5, Sun. 1-4, Apr.-Sept.; Tues.-Sat. 9-5, Sun. 1-4, rest of year. Closed Jan. 1, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
