Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park, on US 68, is the site of Kentucky's last Revolutionary War engagement. The British led a band of Native Americans in a raid on the outpost settlement of Bryan Station. After 2 days the redcoats began a retreat. The Kentucky volunteers followed in pursuit, but were ambushed in a 15-minute battle where they were outnumbered three to one. A granite obelisk commemorates those who died in the 1782 battle; the site also includes the burial grounds and a museum. The Pioneer Museum offers Native American and pioneer relics, bones of prehistoric animals found nearby, old gun and glassware collections, and a 7-minute audiovisual program.
Camping is permitted. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
