Butler-Turpin State Historic House, 2 mi. s.e. on SR 227 in General Butler State Resort Park, is the restored 1859 home of Kentucky’s Butler family, which included Gen. William Orlando Butler, a hero of the Battle of New Orleans and a major general during the Mexican War, and Maj. Thomas Butler, aide-de-camp to General Andrew Jackson during the War of 1812. The Greek Revival home retains many of its original features, including woodwork, mantels and a staircase. The Butler family cemetery is located on the grounds.
