Civil War Museum, at Columbus-Belmont State Park, showcases Civil War artifacts and memorabilia including cannonballs, rifles and uniforms as well as drawings and photographs of prominent generals and influential figures. A guided tour of the museum, a converted 1850s antebellum farmhouse, begins with a 10-minute video describing the significance both the North and South determined the site possessed as a strategic location in the battle for control of the Mississippi River. Hiking trails through the historic earthworks and a playground also are on the premises.

Picnicking is permitted. Food is available.

$4; $3 (ages 3-16 and senior citizens).
Daily 9-5, May 1- Labor Day; Sat.-Sun. 9-5, day after Labor Day to mid-Oct.; by appointment rest of year. Allow 45 minutes minimum.
