Civil War Museum, at Columbus-Belmont State Park, showcases Civil War artifacts and memorabilia including cannonballs, rifles and uniforms as well as drawings and photographs of prominent generals and influential figures. A guided tour of the museum, a converted 1850s antebellum farmhouse, begins with a 10-minute video describing the significance both the North and South determined the site possessed as a strategic location in the battle for control of the Mississippi River. Hiking trails and a playground also are on the premises.
Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 45 minutes minimum.
