Pioneer Playhouse, on Old US 150 at 840 Stanford Rd., is an outdoor dinner theater that presents Broadway productions. Performers such as Lee Majors, John Travolta and Jim Varney as well as movie writer/producer Robby Henson have launched their careers from the playhouse. The 200-acre complex also includes hiking trails through 65 wooded acres, a campground and a museum, known as The Village of the Arts, all centered around a Wild West street on which movies have been made. The museum contains a print shop, a music store, an ice cream shop and costumed personnel.
Dinner and theater: reserved seats $32; $17 (ages 0-12). Theater only: reserved seats $18; $10 (ages 0-12). Museum free.
Hours: Shows Tues.-Sat. at 8:30 p.m. (dinner served at 7:30), early June to mid-Aug. Village open Tues.-Sat. 7-8:30 p.m., early June to mid-Aug. Reservations are required for dinner shows.
