Liberty Hall Historic Site, 202-218 Wilkinson St., consists of two historic houses situated on 4 acres of formal boxwood and perennial gardens on the banks of the Kentucky River. In order to give both of his son's equal inheritance, Sen. John Brown divided the original 4-acre site into two parcels, each with a house. Tours of both houses include changing exhibits that focus on the lives of the Brown family and the early days of Kentucky’s statehood.
Grounds and gardens open daily dawn-dusk. Guided house tours begin at Liberty Hall Mon.-Sat. at 1:30, mid-Mar. to mid-Dec.; otherwise by appointment. Closed Thanksgiving. Phone ahead to confirm schedule. Allow 1 hour minimum.
