AAA Inspector Notes
Historic. Originally a female academy built in 1845, this Southern mansion could be a set for a Civil War movie. Now a family-owned inn, it serves classic regional dishes such as fried-green tomatoes with fresh buttermilk ranch dressing; corn pudding; a specialty two-year-old Kentucky-cured country ham; "yellow-legged" fried chicken; and a wonderful oven-roasted duck breast with a port wine reduction sauce. The General Robert E. Lee orange lemon cake is a delicate finale to your dining experience.
