American Cave Museum & Hidden River Cave is 2.5 mi. e. of I-65 exit 58 on SR 218 at 119 E. Main St. Museum exhibits, which provide information about the history and science of caves, include displays about cave formations and explorations, ground water, historical artifacts, Native Americans and aquariums containing cave animals. A set of 230 stairs leads to an underground river that flows beneath the town of Horse Cave; guided cave tours are available. Adventure tours are available by reservation. Note: Due to the threat of White-Nose syndrome to bats, visitors should not wear clothing and footwear that has been worn in other caves unless properly decontaminated. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
$15 (includes museum and cave tour); $10 (ages 6-15). Admission for those unable to climb stairs $7. Museum only $6.
Hours: Daily 9-7, Memorial Day-Labor Day; 9-5, rest of year. Last tour departs one hour before closing. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas and Dec. 31.
