The International Museum of the Horse is part of Kentucky Horse Park at 4089 Iron Works Pkwy. This large, beautifully designed museum outlines the history of the first domesticated horse, the Arabian stallion, draft horses, horse-drawn vehicles and the horse as it relates to sports. Temporary international exhibits offer glimpses of the importance of horses to different cultures. Note: Photography and video are allowed in the permanent exhibits only.
Admission mid-Mar. through Oct. 31, $16; $15 (ages 65+); $8 (ages 7-12). Admission rest of year, $10; $9 (ages 65+); $5 (ages 7-12). Admission includes admittance to the Kentucky Horse Park; a museum only ticket is available year round for $8; $4 (ages 7-12). Parking: $5; $15 (special events).
Hours: Daily 9-5, mid-Mar. through Oct. 31; Wed.-Sun. 9-5, rest of year. Closed Jan. 1, day before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas and Dec. 31. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
